The discovery of agriculture was, for a variety of reasons, by far the most influential discovery man has made throughout the annals of history. The creation of agriculture and farms led to the development of cities, or permanent settlements, which subsequently led to development of specialists. Before agriculture, humans had to hunt pretty much all day for the majority of their food. Farming, however, led to more efficient methods of food production, allowing humans to now focus on other activities besides hunting. Rather than hunting all day, people were not free to develop other skills, such as smithing weapons and tools, smelting ores for medal, constructing sturdy houses and buildings, developing better methods for sailing, etc. Agriculture was so important! It is the one discovery from which all other discoveries stem from.
